We are passionate about reviving ancient games and are always excited to introduce you to some strategy games that are gaining popularity once again. Among these treasures is the revered game of Chaturanga, an ancient form of chess that holds significant cultural importance.
Chaturanga literally means 4 angas or limbs, which are symbolically represented in the game by 4 branches of an army - elephant (minister), horse, ship & soldiers. The game developed during the gupta period, came to be known as Shatranj and later as Chess. Chaturanga is believed to be the common ancestor of chess, shogi, makruk, xiangqi and janggi games.
The game, unlike today's chess, is played using dice and the game rules are given in detail. With exquisitely handcrafted wooden pawns, this regal gameboard will be a delightful addition to your living room too!
