Aligulimane is a popular indoor game native to south India and belongs to the family of Mancala games. This game originated from the concept of ‘sowing and reaping’ - an integral part of rural life all over India. It was played traditionally with tamarind seeds/cowrie shells on a wooden board or metal board or even on veranda floors with cups carved into stone slabs. The game is known to have been played in ancient Sumeria, Africa, known by different names- Mancala, Kalaha, Oware, Wari.
Here is comething very interesting about this game board: we have made it from recyclable waste generated from packaging materials of food, pharma, personal care products! Be a proud owner of a game set (an ancient one at that!) that is a product of circular economy. This fabulously handcrafted game sitting on your center table is sure to be a conversation starter.
